(AP) Martin Scorsese will be busy at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Fresh off his Oscar win for "The Departed," the acclaimed director will give a master class on moviemaking to students and film buffs on May 24, the festival announced.

During the May 27 closing ceremony in Cannes, Scorsese will present a prize for the best film by a first-time director.

Also in Cannes, he is scheduled to announce the creation of a new foundation "devoted to the preservation and restoration of the masterpieces of world cinema," the festival said.
