It's my most favorite three hours of TV, with the final five survivors dueling it out for the million, then the ever-boring and anti-climatic one-hour reunion show. Here is how it all played out.
After a long recap (we have been watching the show here, people) it's time to get started. Yau comes back from camp and asks Earl if he can use his idol next time if he needs it. Earl seems reluctant, which he should since it's do or die time and I wouldn't be giving away my idol for anything.
It's time for the immunity challenge and it looks very familiar to me. It's a maze the survivors must make their way through blindfolded. I actually won this challenge on my original season. The survivors must match their keys to unlock their drawbridge to allow them into the next portion of the maze. The first to make it past all five maze sections wins immunity. After a very poor showing by Cassandra (she has at least been consistent) and surprisingly Earl, Yau wins immunity and is safe from tonight's tribal council.
After Yau's win back at camp, Boo knows his fate is sealed and it's time for him to go home. Yau comes right out and tells Boo he is going home right to his face — at least he is honest. But Boo has one last plan. He tried to convince Earl AND Yau to get rid of Dreamz now and take Boo to the finals because they have a better chance of beating Boo. Smart but maybe too late.
Tribal council is like an auction with Dreamz and Boo both trying to sell themselves to stay in and not get voted out tonight. After some discussion, and Earl playing the idol, Boo is voted out.
Now, this is my least favorite time on the show. It's called the fallen comrades. They must reflect upon each survivor who has been voted off. I find it kind of sappy but some people love it — just not me.
The last immunity challenge is an endurance one. The survivors will lie on a plank at their back holding onto a rope. At time intervals Jeff will increase the angle of the plank and the last one left standing wins the final immunity. This is the big one because three people will face the final jury. After 15 minutes Cassandra is the first one to fall off followed by Earl, Yau and then Dreamz, my favorite, wins the last individual immunity. Now, will Dreamz give his immunity to Yau like he promised? I hope he doesn't.
This is the final tribal council before the jury faces off to pick their winner. And Jeff is correct: tonight the only thing to talk about at tribal council is if Dreamz will give Yau the idol. After some suspense Dreamz keeps immunity, thank god, and Yau is voted off.
OK, it's final tribal council time. Each contestant makes their plea to open up the show, then my favorite time starts: the jury questions. Michele asks what their biggest hardship was. Dreamz says being thirsty, Cassandra says overcoming her inability to swim, and Earl says being the only original Ravu member in the final three. Edgardo asks Earl how he found out who had the idol. Earl answers that Dreamz told him. Oops, that may have just done in Dreamz.
Mookie asks Dreamz if he told anyone about the idol and Dreamz answers an honest, "Yes." Alex asks Cassandra to describe the moment where she grappled the most to keep her integrity. Cassandra says it was when she discussed whether they should eliminate her or Dreamz. And Alex basically lays into everyone. He seems very bitter and tells Cassandra to shut it. Lisi asks Cassandra to see her water shows? Then she tells Cassandra she was unprepared to play the game and was in over her head. Cassandra tried to defend herself and Lisi cuts her off. Stacy asks Earl whether she should base her vote on an as-needed basis because Dreamz needs it more than Earl. Rocky asks who each person manipulated the best. Cassandra said because she listens to everyone at times. Dreamz says because every time he was on the block he turned it around. Earl says because people didn't even know he was playing hard.
Boo asks Dreamz why he made the promise to Yau and then broke it. Dreamz says because he was playing the game. Yau asks Dreamz to say why he changed his mind on giving him the idol. Dreamz said he was playing the game and he did what he had to do. Yau asks Earl why he wouldn't want to go against him and Earl says because he knew he wouldn't beat him.
So, after 39 days and a mild entrance from Probst we find out that Earl is the winner of "Survivor: Fiji."
And then we get onto the reunion show and I will just say this — it was boring! No new interesting news there.
